Nächste Oldie-Skizze, dem Dateidatum nach ist das Teil von 2008. Zeichnerisch nicht wirklich toll, dafür fand ich aber die Idee mit dem voluminösen Haar nach wie vor brauchbar.
Next oldie sketch, according to the file-date this one is from 2008. Drawing-wise it’s nothing great, however, I thought the idea was still interesting enough to do something with it.

Nächstes Teil. Skizze hatte natürlich, wie sich das gehört, einige Jahre Zeit zu reifen. Früher hab ich noch viel öfter Raucher gezeichnet, auch wenn ich selbst nie einer war. Wie ich gehört habe, soll das ja ungesund sein – aber cool aussehen tut es irgendwie (leider) schon :D
Next piece. The sketch, as expected, has had a couple of years to improve with time. In the past I used to draw smokers way more often, even though I’ve never been one myself. I hear it’s unhealthy – but (unfortunately) it looks kinda cool :D
Beim Hintergrund hatte ich lange überlegt was ich mache. Letztendlich hab ich mich aber für die schlichte Variante entschieden und nur einen dunklen Verlauf gemacht. Beim Rauch hatte ich kurzzeitig mit einigen von Inkscape’s Filtern rumprobiert. Da kamen tatsächlich einige ziemlich coole Effekte bei raus, leider passte das aber auch alles nicht so wirklich zum Style des Bildes. Also alles zurück auf Anfang und so gemacht, wie ich es von Anfang an vorgesehen hatte. Weniger beeindruckend, dafür passt es aber eben stilistisch besser.
I postponed the decision of what to do with the background until very late in the process. Couldn’t really decide what I wanted to do but eventually thought I’d go with a simple dark gradient. For the smoke I did a bunch of experiments with a variety of Inkscape’s filters. Some of these produced quite cool or interesting results, unfortunately though they didn’t really fit the style of the image. Therefore, full rewind and back to what I had planned from the beginning. It’s somewhat less impressive but at least it fits much better stylistically.
Noch eine Variante, etwas mehr nachbearbeitet: Bild dupliziert, linearen Weichzeichner (Bewegungsunschärfe? Weiß nicht wie das in der deutschen Gimp-Version heißt) drauf, Hard Light Ebenenblendmodus.
Here’s a variant with a bit more post-processing: duplicated the image, applied Linear Motion Filter, set layer blend mode to Hard Light.

Heute gibt’s nochmal ein Pixelteil, basierend -mal wieder- auf einer uralten Skizze von 2006. Ja, von den Skizzen aus dem ersten Jahrzehnt des neuen Jahrtausends werde ich wohl in zehn Jahren immer noch zehren können, so langsam wie ich beim Abarbeiten solcher Sachen bin :D Die Farbpalette die ich hier verwendet habe, ist die Equpix15 von Night, die ich wie schon beim letzten Bild auf https://lospec.com/ entdeckt hatte. Hab seit vielen Monaten mal wieder was gepixelt. Die Skizze lag schon eine ganze Weile im Skizzenordner rum und ich war mir nicht sicher, ob ich das Teil in Vektor oder Pixel umsetzen will. Naja, sieht aus als hätte ich mich für letzteres entschieden.
It’s been months since I pixeled something. Had the sketch sitting in my sketch folder for quite some time and wasn’t sure whether to do this piece in vectors or pixels. Well, seems like I decided for the latter.
Hier was kleines für zwischendurch. Eigentlich hatte ich mal wieder was komplett anderes begonnen, dann aber Freitag Mittag beim Essen ein bisschen gekritzelt und eine der Skizzen für witzig befunden. Witziger jedenfalls als das uninspirierte Zeug an dem ich zuvor gewerkelt hatte. Also kurzentschlossen das neue angefangen und vergangene Nacht abgeschlossen. Ein weitverbreiteter Irrglaube ist, dass die alten Wikinger damals immer in Langbooten über’s Wasser kamen. Stimmt aber gar nicht, in Wahrheit griffen die aus der Luft an. ODIIIIIIIN! :D
Here’s a spontaneous little something. Once again, I had been working on something entirely different. Then, on Friday while eating lunch I was scribbling a bit and one of the sketches was funny enough to make me wanna work on it further. Well, at least funnier than the uninspired stuff I had been struggling with before. I then began working on it immediately and finished the piece last night. It’s a popular misconception that the old vikings came in their longboats across the water. This isn’t the full truth of course. In reality they attacked from above. ODIIIIIIIN! :D

Mit relativ geringem zeitlichem Abstand gibts noch einen hinterher. Es kam die gleiche Farbpalette zum Einsatz, die Kopfbehaarung ist ähnlich üppig, der Hintergrund vergleichbar minimalistisch – dafür gibts aber dieses mal mehr geschliffenen Stahl. Ausgangsmaterial war hier kein Pixel-Bildchen sondern eine wenig beeindruckende Kritzelei. Darüber hinaus gibt es nicht viel zu sagen. Ach ja, abgesehen von MÄNNLICH .. HARRR!!
Relatively shortly after the last post I’m posting a follow-up. It uses the same color palette, contains similarly opulent facial hair and simplistic background – but more sharpened steel. This time there was no pixel original, but some very unimpressive little sketch. Besides that, there’s very little to say. Oh yeah, of course MANLY .. HARRR!!

Nach einer ganzen Reihe ausschließlich weiblicher Bildmotive heute mal wieder was markant-männliches. Und wie könnte es noch männlicher werden als mit Quadratkreuz und Vollbart? Ganz taufrisch ist das Motiv natürlich nicht. Um genau zu sein, ist dies bereits die zweite Neuauflage. Am Anfang war der Pixel-Dude, dann kam die Voxelisierung (jaja, eine schreckliche Wortkreation) und nun eben nochmal das ganze in kantigem Vektor-Look. Fehlt eigentlich nur noch eine traditionell gezeichnete Blei-/Buntstift/Ink Variante, dann hätte ich meine sämtlichen Medien und Stile abgedeckt. Aber sei’s drum. Spaß hats gemacht und das ist doch die Hauptsache.
After quite a number of exclusively female subjects I felt it was time for something really manly. And what could be more manly than square shoulders and a full beard? Of course, this motive isn’t really new. In fact this is already my second remake of the fella. First came the pixel dude, after that I voxelized him and now there’s the somewhat square-edged vector look. To complete my set of media and styles the only thing still missing would be a traditionally drawn pencil/ ink variant. But anyway. It was fun to redo him in yet another technique and that’s good enough for me.

Und hier zum Abschluss mal wieder ein wenig aussagekräftiger und vermutlich auch leicht irreführender Teaser. Ich bin damit momentan noch in der Findungsphase, über viele Details bin ich mir noch nicht ganz im klaren. In fertig wird es aber wohl relativ züchtig werden :P
And finally here’s yet another nondescript and misleading little teaser. I’m not done with the entire setup yet and details will still change. But I think the final piece will probably be pretty tame :P
Ich hatte noch Reste vom braunen Karton des letzten Bildes übrig. Da bot es sich irgendwie an, nochmal ein paar Lesezeichen zu basteln. Der Teufel links, ein alter rauschebärtiger Mann rechts. Jeweils ca. 4×10 cm groß/klein.
I had some scraps left from the cardboard of the last pic. Thought I’d use them to make some more bookmarks instead of throwing them away. The devil on the left, a bearded old man on the right. Each of these is about 4×10 cm in size.
