Vrooom!!

Dieses Bild ist Teil des diesjährigen Geburtstagsgeschenkes für unseren Vater. Eine passende Idee ließ leider recht lange auf sich warten, weshalb ich auch etwas unter Zeitdruck stand und beim Shading sparen musste. Hoffentlich fällt das niemandem auf :D

This pic is part of this year’s birthday present for our dad. It took me quite a while to come up with a suitable idea. Therefore I was a little pressed for time and had to make the shading less elaborate than I would have wished. But hopefully people won’t notice :D

Bonehead 21

Nach einem kurzen Trip in Inkscape-fremdes Territorium gibt’s heute wieder Vektorkram. Als Basis diente eine von diversen thematisch ähnlichen Skizzen, die schon seit geraumer Zeit darauf warten, endlich mal verwendet zu werden. Weder technisch noch inhaltlich neu oder innovativ, da mein letztes Schädelbild aber schon eine Weile zurückliegt, hatte ich doch meinen Spaß mit dem Ding.

After my short trip into non-Inkscape territory I’m back with new vector material. The base was one of several similar-themed sketches that have been sitting around for some time, waiting to be put to good use. This piece doesn’t do anything new, neither technically or thematically. It’s been a while since my last skull pic though, and therefore it’s been enjoyable nonetheless.

Blade Girl

Internet ist langweilig, dachte ich mir und bin dem selbigen deshalb eine Woche ferngeblieben. Heute wollte ich aber doch mal wieder schauen, ob noch alles vorhanden ist. Scheint soweit alles zu funktionieren :D Hier ist ein neues Bildchen das ich eigentlich schon vor einigen Monaten fertiggestellt haben wollte, als ich die Skizze gezeichnet hatte. Aber sei’s drum. Immerhin hat es nicht 8+ Jahre gedauert wie einige andere Teile in letzter Zeit.

Internet is boring, I thought and therefore didn’t go online for an entire week. Today I felt like checking back if everything is still working. And yeah, as far as I’ve seen things seem to be working well enough :D Here’s a new pic that I wanted to have finished already a couple of months ago, when I drew the sketch. Ah well, at least it didn’t take me 8+ years to get around to finishing it, like some of my other pieces in recent months.

Nach dem letzten Bild, das auf einer ziemlich neuen Skizze basierte, gibts heute mal wieder was aus der Skizzengruft. Ich war tatsächlich etwas erschrocken als ich feststellen musste, dass dieses Teil hier tatsächlich schon seit Anfang 2009 in meinem Scan-Ordner Staub ansetzte. Vor beinahe exakt fünf Jahren, im Mai 2011 hatte ich schon mal einen halbherzigen Anlauf gestartet, diesen aber ziemlich schnell auf Eis gelegt. Ein Bild eines geschätzten Inkscape-Kollegen auf Facebook erinnerte mich vor einigen Tagen daran, dass ich ja auch noch ein Schwermetallgefährt auf Lager habe (danke Ozant!) … und dieses mal hab ich ohne langes Überlegen die Sache relativ zügig durchgezogen. Anders als beim ersten Anlauf habe ich auf das Line-Art verzichtet. Die Palette mit der ich gearbeitet habe, beinhaltet 7 Farben (6 + weiß), keine Verläufe. Farbanpassung und verwackelter Hintergrund wurden wieder extern vorgenommen.

After the last pic, which was based on a new sketch, today I’ve got something from the sketch crypt. I was a little bit shocked when I checked and realized that this file had indeed been sitting in my scan folder, accumulating dust, since early 2009. Almost exactly five years ago, in May 2011 I had begun a somewhat halfhearted attempt at vectorizing it. This didn’t go very far though and was abandoned soon. A couple of days ago a picture done by a fellow Inkscape user on Facebook reminded that I still had my own heavy metal vehicle in the garage (thanks Ozant!) … I started from scratch and this time without much further thought or delay went through with it. Here, as opposed to the first attempt, I didn’t add line-work. The palette I worked with contains 7 colors (6 + white), no gradients. Color adjustment and background blur were added externally.

Battle Stance

Hier was (eigentlich nicht mehr ganz so) neues. Ist später fertig geworden, als gehofft/geplant. Da WordPress momentan einige Probleme macht (zumindest bei mir hier O_o), beschränke ich meine verbalen Ergüsse auch auf ein Minimum. Hoffe das Bild gefällt. Ach ja, und natürlich ein frohes, gesundes, erfolgreiches neues Jahr allen Menschen da draußen!

Here’s something (actually not really) new. I finished this quite a bit later than anticipated/planned. Since WordPress is causing some issues right now (at least for me O_o), I’ll keep this posting really short. Hope people like the pic. Oh yeah, and I wish everybody out there a happy, healthy, successful and generally great new year!

Candy Heart

Hier was kleines neues das ich eigentlich nur angefangen hatte, um mich noch etwas vor dem detaillierteren Battle Stance-Teil zu drücken :D Bonbonfarben und ein letzter Hauch von Sommer, genau richtig für die angehende kalte Jahreszeit. Ein paar grobe Zwischenstufen gibts unter dem fertigen Bild.

Here’s something new that I admittedly only made to have an excuse for postponing the more detailled Battle Stance piece :D Candy colors and a last summer breeze, just right for the beginning cold season. A few wip-steps can be seen below the final pic.

Undressing…

Nach wochenlanger Sendepause gibts hier endlich Nachschub; seit längerem mal wieder ein Vektorbild. Wie eigentlich fast immer ist der Hintergrund improvisiert und abstrakt-simpel ausgefallen, passt aber glaube ich dennoch gut zum Character. Auch technisch/stilistisch bin ich keine Experimente eingegangen, sondern meiner gewohnten Vorgehensweise treu geblieben. Bonbonfarben und Brüste .. YAY! :D

After several weeks of complete silence I finally finished some new material; the first vector piece in quite a while. As with pretty much every one of my vector pics I was going for some abstract-simple (and entirely improvised) background. Nonetheless I think it supports the character quite well and adds to the overall image. Technically and style-wise I didn’t do any experiments and went down my usual path as well. Candy colors and boobs for the win .. YAY! :D

In hoffentlich maximal einer Woche sollte ein weiteres Vektor-Teil fertig werden. Danach? Keine Ahnung… Vektor oder Buntstift – für beides liegen noch etliche Skizzen auf Lager und eine Entscheidung ist bisher noch nicht gefallen. Für Meinungsäußerungen bin ich aber offen :)

In hopefully no more than a week I should have another vector piece done. And after that? No idea… vector or pencil – for both I’ve got several sketches still lying about and haven’t made a decision yet. Though I’m open for suggestions :)

Tiny Turtle

Zwei kleine neue und nicht allzu komplexe Bildchen, die farblich ganz gut zum momentan vorherrschenden Grün vor dem Haus passen :) Hier einmal eine kleine Schildkröte. Eine simple, ziemlich kleine Skizze diente als Vorlage.

Two new and not too complex pics, which I think will fit together quite well with the currently b(l)ooming green outside :) First one is a small turtle. Another simple and rather smallish sketch finally made into a finished picture.

Nummer 2 ist eine Art Golem der ein lauschiges Plätzchen vor einer Felsenhöhle im Wald gefunden hat. Öhm.. ja, das war’s eigentlich auch schon mit „Hintergrundinformation“. Dass ich vor nicht allzu langer Zeit „Hohle Köpfe“ von Terry Pratchett („Feet of Clay“ = „Füße aus Ton“ im Original) gelesen habe, indem es ebenfalls um tönerne Golems geht, hat mit meiner Motivwahl nichts zu tun und ist tatsächlich reiner Zufall :D Auf das Line-Art habe ich hier komplett verzichtet.

Number 2 is some kind of golem that has found a cozy place in front of a cave deep inside a forest. Erm.. yes, that is actually all the „background information“ there is. Funny side-note: just recently I read Terry Pratchett’s „Feet of Clay“, in which clay golems play a major role. This, however, is pure coincidence and has nothing to do with my choice of subject. I swear! :D In this image I thought I’d go without the line-art layer.

SpongeBob BaggyPants

Das lange überfällige Update.. YAY! Ist wieder mal eine fast schon antike Skizze (2006), die im digitalen Vektorgewand doch noch ihre Fertigstellung erleben darf. Eines meiner recht seltenen Fanarts.. Hier zunächst einmal das finale Bild.

The long overdue update.. YAY! This is, once again, an almost ancient sketch (2006) that finally made it to a completed shiny vector image. Also, it’s one of my rare fanarts.. Let’s start with the final pic.

Vector Dudes

Willkommen zu einem weiteren lange überfälligen Update. Und ohne große Umschweife kommen wir auch gleich zur Sache. Heute mit dabei: ein netter kleiner und fast kahlköpfiger Typ aus einem fernen Land, in dem die Menschen noch die bei uns längst verlorengegangenen Kenntnisse über mystische Selbstverteidigung beherrschen…

Welcome to yet another long overdue update. Let’s just save everybody the unnecessary bla bla and start with the show. May I present to you this small and almost bald-headed fella coming from a faraway country where people still have knowledge of the secrets of mystical self-defense that’s been long lost in our part of the world…

Der nächste im Bunde  ist von leicht gammeliger Gestalt. Ursprünglich als digitale Überarbeitung des folgenden älteren Shirt-Motivs werden (welches ich damals lediglich geinkt hatte). Das Bild an sich hatte ich nie gepostet, nur als Artikel im Shop aufgenommen. Deshalb auch kein Eintrag in der Galerie :)

The next one in today’s lineup is one of the rotten kind. I originally intended to do a digital remake of the following older shirt design (which I only inked back then). This one was never posted as an image, I only added it to the shop a while ago. Hence you won’t find it in the gallery :)

Ist letztendlich dann aber doch eine komplett neue Skizze bei rausgekommen. Und viele Stunden später sieht das resultierende Klamottenmotiv dann wie folgt aus. Der „einfache“ Afro ist zum Afro Ninja geworden. Super! :D

In the end I came up with an entirely new sketch instead. And many  hours later the final shirt design now looks like this. The „generic“ Afro has turned into an Afro Ninja. Great, ain’t it? :D

Hier nochmal als reines Bild… Einmal mit meinen berüchtigten eckigen Hintergrundflächen und einmal ohne. Sie haben die Wahl ;)

And to prove how much I really like this handsome guy, I thought I’d throw in a quick step-by-step as well.

Nach kleinen Knubbelmönchen und verrottenden Ninjakämpfern soll den Abschluss….. dieser langhaarige Typ hier machen. Mein neuestes Selbstbildnis das mich in Alltagszwirn zeigt, komplett mit Rucksack, orange-farbenem Schlüsselband (von www.bist-du-staerker-als-alkohol.de .. YAY!) und so weiter. Alles ziemlich authentisch, abgesehen von den auf die Wand gepinselten Initialen. Ist ein kleines Giveaway für meine Mathekids entstanden und eine streng limitierte Angelegenheit: davon existieren nur 8 (authorisierte) Postkarten-große Drucke weltweit :D

So, we’ve had chubby little monks, rotting ninja fighters and I’m gonna conclude with….. this long-haired dude. It’s my latest self-depiction, showing myself in pretty much my everyday style, complete with backpack, orange lanyard and so on. Pretty authentic, aside from my initials painted on a wall. I made this as a little giveaway for my math kids. It’s a strictly limited thing, only 8 (authorized) postcard-sized prints exist worldwide :D
